The reinvented French manicure

The look: Goodbye classic French manicure, hello bi-colour nails 2.0! Instead of painting the body of the nail with a flesh colour and the tips with clear white, opt for playful combinations like nude beige and neon green, white and black, burgundy red and gold, or any other pairing you like. The idea? Mix and match shades that normally aren’t used together to create a flashy, trendy effect.

Directions: After applying a a protective base coat, cover your nails with two thin layers of your first colour. Wait half an hour for the nail polish to completely dry, then use some fingernail stickers as stencils when you apply your second coat of polish. The only thing left is to paint your second colour, wait for it to dry before removing the stickers, then apply a long-lasting top coat.

Discreet glitter

The look: We’re quite familiar with glitter nail polish. In fact, it’s been a classic Holiday look for the past few years. The new take on this trend this season? Covering your bare nails with a single thin coat of micro-glitter clear polish to give your nails a subtle shine.

Directions: To recreate this feminine manicure featured at the most recent Delpozo fashion show, file your nails so they’re short and round. Then, apply two layers of protective base coat before applying a glitter lacquer that’s gold, copper or silver. Finally cover your nails with a thin coat of glossy top coat and let it dry for half an hour.

The marble effect

The look: The spring-summer Nicolle Miller and Nanette Lepore fashion shows featured marbled manicures with precise black and white spots. Extremely modern, this style proved its versatility by looking as great on short, round nails using sophisticated colours (Miller) as on long, square nails paired with bohemian outfits (Lepore).

Directions: After applying a smoothing base coat, cover each nail with two layers of opaque white. Once the polish completely dry, pat a small makeup sponge soaked with black polish on your nails, varying the pattern from one finger to the next. Finalize the look with a long-lasting top coat.

The geometric print

The look: Horizontal or vertical stripes, inverted triangles, shaded gradients, checkered patterns, abstract motifs… Spectacular manicures were on full display at recent famous fashion shows.

Directions: There are two ways to recreate this stunning nail art. 1) Invest in nail stickers. Just like with the reinvented French manicure, use them as stencils when applying polish and choose the pattern you want. 2) Opt for adhesive false nails that are extremely easy to apply (and remove!) to save time creating patterns and colour combinations.
