How to make a crown braid

You’ve probably seen many celebrities with a crown braid on the red carpet. That’s because it’s a hairstyle that’s sophisticated, modern and versatile. Here’s how to achieve this look in a few easy steps.

1

First, use texture spray to prepare your hair. This step is essential to helping you create a firm braid that will keep its hold.

2

The goal is to begin braiding your hair on the side of your head. To do so, part your hair to the side because your braid will go from one ear to the other.

Start by doing a traditional three-strand braid. You’ll want to make the braid thicker by adding hair into each strand as you cross them over one another.

3

Make your way around your head until all your hair is braided. Finish as you normally would and secure the braid with clear plastic elastics.

4

Finally, secure the tip of the braid on the top of your head and hide the elastic under the braid itself. For more volume, stretch the sides of the braid out a bit to make it bigger. We love this casual version of a crown braid and so do many of our favourite celebrities!

Make your hairdo last all day by using a hold finishing hairspray!
