Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes a respiratory tract infection that can lead to serious health complications. RSV is highly contagious, and most often appears from late fall to early spring. The virus presents as a common cold, but can develop into pneumonia, bronchiolitis and other respiratory infections.

Vaccines are now available to prevent this virus. They can be administered to people aged 60 and over, and to pregnant women between the 32nd and 36th week of pregnancy.
