Poliomyelitis is a very contagious disease that attacks the nervous system. Although, thanks to vaccination, it has been eliminated from North America, it still persists in certain countries. Quebec: A nurse or pharmacist are available to administer the vaccine directly at the pharmacy. The vaccines of the government program for children under 6 years must be administered in CLSC (local community service centre); they cannot be administered in pharmacies.
New Brunswick: A nurse or pharmacist are available to administer the vaccine or booster doses directly at the pharmacy.
Ontario: A nurse can administer the vaccine directly at the pharmacy.
