Prom night: 30 days of beauty preparation

With just one more month before prom night, your beauty mission is to take care of yourself. Here’s a program to ensure you don’t forget anything.

30 days before

Pamper your skin

  1. In anticipation of the big night, add a gentle exfoliator to your beauty routine to smooth and purify your complexion. Choose a scrub to polish the surface of the skin, or a peel, which chemically dissolves dead cells. Apply the product once or twice a week, depending on your skin's sensitivity. Be careful! As the exfoliation has an abrasive action, it can alter the hydrolipidic film - the thin layer of water and natural oil that protects the epidermis from aggressions. To allow this protective layer to regenerate, it is essential to use a nourishing facial mask adapted to your skin type after each treatment.
  2. Treat dark circles under your eyes in the morning and evening with a specially made cream. Apply it by patting the cream on gently with your fingertips, without rubbing.
  3. Deeply moisturize your skin. When you get out of the shower, apply a rich, nourishing moisturizer, paying special attention to rougher areas like elbows and knees.

Nourish your hair

  1. Use a shampoo and conditioner that suit your hair type (short, long, coloured, oily, curly, etc.). Rinse thoroughly with cool water to enhance your hair’s shine.
  2. Treat dull, damaged, oily or hard-to-manage hair with a targeted hair care product such as a cream rinse or mask.
  3. Boost your hair’s natural shine with a specialized treatment. A light, rinse-free formula will give you soft, supple hair with intense shine.

Take on more colour

To get an idea of how your tan will look on prom night, test a few areas of your skin. For a natural-looking tan that lasts five to seven days, try a classic self-tanner in cream, gel or spray form. For a subtle tan that can be washed away with water, choose a powder that gives the face, neckline and legs a tanned look.

Freshen up your hairstyle

  1. See your hairdresser for a cut and to refresh your hair colour. Note: now is not the time to experiment with a new look you might regret!
  2. At home, try out your prom hairstyle and the styling products you’ll be using that night.

2 days before

  1. Pluck your eyebrows to properly define them and frame your look. By doing this in advance, you’ll avoid redness on the big day.
  2. Remove hair with wax, making sure to moisturize your skin when you’re done. If the skin is irritated, apply a soothing aloe-based lotion or argan oil. Avoid sunlight and scrubs for 48 hours so as not to irritate your skin further. If needed, touch-ups can be done with a razor on the day of the prom.

Do your nails

Treat yourself to an at-home manicure and pedicure. Once you have strengthened and hydrated your nails with nourishing products, it's time to dress them up with colourful nail polish. Choose a gel formula for salon-worthy results. This product combines the functions of a base coat and a polish: it protects the nail while ensuring a long-lasting hold and vibrant colour. Can be used with or without a UV lamp, it adapts to all tastes and all budgets.
