Tips and secrets for flawless makeup

Too pale, too dark, too thick, too translucent… finding the right concealer and applying it well can be tricky. Thankfully, there are strategies to help!

Find the right shade

A concealer that’s noticeable defeats its purpose, so the golden rule is to always prevent demarcation lines. Avoid any shade lighter than your complexion, as it can fade—undoing your efforts for a flawless look! So choose one that matches your skin tone as closely as possible.

Find the right shade

To neutralize dark circles,  use a shade from the opposite side of the colour circle. If your dark circles are bluish, an orangey-peach concealer will be very effective. If they’re more mauve, a golden-yellow tone will work best.

For more coverage, use an orange- or yellow-tinted corrector before applying concealer. Be careful, though! Applying two layers requires a light hand. Avoid creating a thickness that’s not only unnatural-looking but weighs down the delicate area around your eyes.

Apply it like a pro

Once you’ve found the right colour, it’s time to use the concealer effectively! Apply a few droplets under each eye and spread them in a large V-shape, starting at the inside corner, moving down towards the top of your cheek, then up the outside to the eyebrow. Err on the side of caution and use only a small amount of concealer: it’s much easier to add more later than to remove any excess.

Apply it like a pro

A flat synthetic brush is recommended for application because it won’t absorb the formula. Apply the concealer upwards, in small movements. For an even more natural effect, complete the application by gently tapping with your finger: the heat of your skin will make the product more fluid and increase the impression of a "second skin."

Set it for a flawless look

You didn’t spend all that time applying concealer just so that it would evaporate an hour later! Make sure that it stays in place by covering it with a very thin layer of translucent powder. A mineral formula is preferable because it’s less drying, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Avoid any excess by tapping the brush on the back of your hand first.
