Getting ready for prom

Want that red carpet look for prom? It’s totally doable! Follow our tips and you’ll be the belle of the ball!

Here’s how to create a glamorous look that’ll go with any dress!

BEFORE

1

Start by applying a light, matte-finish foundation. This will ensure you don’t finish the evening with a shiny forehead.

2

To help cover imperfections, opt for a chromatic corrector palette. To eliminate redness, apply green concealer; to neutralize blueish skin tone, go with an orangey-beige shade.

3

To help control your skin’s sebum levels and make sure your makeup lasts all night, apply a bit of powder to your forehead, nose, chin and under-eyes.

4

To highlight your natural skintone, apply bronzer to the hollow of your cheekbones, and a soft pink blush to your cheekbones.

5

Frame your eyes by adding definition to your brows with the help of an eyebrow pencil. For a natural finish, brunettes should opt for a shade that’s lighter than their natural eyebrow colour, and blondes should opt for one that’s a shade darker. For a more sophisticated look, apply a shade identical to your natural colour.

6

Using a dark eyeshadow (think chocolate brown), add depth to your outer eyelids by tracing a triangle and blending it inward towards the eyelid crease.

7

Next, choose a shimmery golden eyeshadow if you have blue or green eyes, or silver if you have brown eyes, and apply it to your inner eyelids, making sure to emphasize the corners of your eyes and brow bone.

Makeup tip: Right before applying your eyeshadow, give the brush a shake. This will remove any excess powder and make sure your cheeks don’t get covered in shimmery dust!

8

Make your eyes pop by tracing a line (in black or brown) along your lower and upper eyelids, then finish off with a few coats of mascara.

9

Seeing as this look is all about the eyes, avoid lipsticks in bold colours and instead opt for a delicate pink lipgloss. And remember to stash your gloss in your purse for touch-ups throughout the evening!
