Directions:

Mix one dose into 240 ml (8 oz) glass of cool liquid.
Stir briskly and drink immediately.
An additional glass of liquid is helpful.
Do not interrupt medication.

For fibre supplementation or relief of irregularity: start by taking 1 dose each day. As your body adjusts to increased fibre intake, gradually increase to 3 doses per day. Generally takes effect in 12-72 hours.

Adults and children over 12: one rounded tablespoon (12 g) or four level teaspoons (12 g) into a 240 ml (8 oz) glass of cool liquid up to 3 times daily.
Children (6-12 years): ½ the adult dose (6 g) in a 240 ml (8 oz) glass of cool liquid up to 3 times daily. Children under 6 years: do not use.
For cholesterol lowering and heart health: for adults only: one rounded tablespoon (12 g) or four level teaspoons (12 g) into a 240 ml (8 oz) glass of cool liquid 3 times daily. For best results in lowering cholesterol, take Metamucil with a meal.

Caution:

Keep this and all medication out of reach of children.
Do not use if you have abdominal pain, fever, nausea or vomiting, a sudden change in bowel habits persisting for 2 weeks, undiagnosed rectal bleeding, failure to defaecate following the use of another laxative.
Consult your doctor if you have insulin-dependant (or type 1) diabetes.
If constipation persists for more than seven days, symptoms worsen, or rectal bleeding occurs, stop use and consult your doctor. These may be signs of a serious condition.
Metamucil may cause an allergic reaction in people sensitive to inhaled or ingested psyllium; in which case, discontinue use.
May cause temporary gas and/or bloating.
Do not take this product within 2 hours of taking any other medicine.
Taking this product without adequate fluid may cause it to swell and block your throat or esophagus and may cause choking.
Do not take if you have difficulty in swallowing.
If you have chest pain, vomiting or difficulty in swallowing or breathing after taking the product, seek immediate medical attention.
