Avoid drinking hot or cold liquids, exercising, smoking or taking a bath or shower immediately before use. These activities will raise or lower your temperature as compared to your normal average temperature. Select an oral, underarm or rectal measurement site, depending on the individual. For hygienic reasons, do not use the same thermometer for rectal use that you use for axillary or oral use. Push the On/Off button located beside the display window. After releasing the button, the thermometer will beep and the display will read: "e;188,8 °F"e;. This is a function check indicating the unit is working properly. The last temperature taken will automatically appear after the function check. Read and record the tempearture and time for reference. Tha last reading will automatically be stored in the memory. Push the On/Off button to turn the unit off. This will prolong the battery life. If you do not turn the unit off, it will shut off automatically in approximately 10 minutes.

Keep battery out of reach of children, swallowing a battery could be harmful. Battery should not be charged or placed in extreme heat as it may explode.
