Administer medication to you in order to demonstrate its administration method

What it means for you—If your doctor prescribes medication that you must take in a particular way (by inhalation, mouth, skin application, or injection), your pharmacist can administer the medication to demonstrate how to do it properly.

How it works

  • The pharmacist will meet with you to assess your needs.
  • Following the consultation, the pharmacist will decide whether it is necessary to administer the medication to you to demonstrate how to use it.
  • The pharmacist will document the decision.

If the pharmacist decides to administer the medication

He/she will

  • prepare the prescribed dose.
  • administer the dose while explaining the procedure to be followed.
  • validate that you understand correctly.
  • monitor your reactions to the administered medication until your departure.
  • do a follow-up with you.
