What’s the right foundation for your skin type?

There’s a foundation for every skin type, whether dry, combination, mature, acne-prone or uneven. Our handy guide will help you find one that will meet your needs and enhance your complexion.

Dry Skin

The issue: The epidermis is dehydrated and tight, and your complexion is dull.

The solution: A light, moisturizing cream foundation that will plump up and revitalize your skin, restoring its glow.

Bonus tip: Apply the foundation with a brush to ensure the moisturizing actives penetrate deeply, and opt for a product that contains pearly microcapsules to provide a natural sheen.

What to avoid: Mousse textures, which may dry out your skin even more.

Uneven Complexion

The issue: Uneven complexion, presence of redness or blemishes.

The solution: A liquid foundation that covers up blemishes to give you a perfectly consistent tone while letting your skin breathe.

Bonus tip: Go for a foundation which will moisturize your skin and which has an SPF, offering protection against the sun.

What to avoid: Products with textures that are too thick or smothering, which will be less flattering due to their “mask” effect.

Combination Skin

The issue: Due to excess sebum and dehydration, combination skin is always a little trickier.

The solution: A “smart” foundation that will mattify your T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) while nourishing the driest areas.

Bonus tip: Go for liquid textures and non-comedogenic products to avoid minor imperfections.

What to avoid: Oil-based products that are too rich and excessively compact textures that will clog the pores.

Mature Skin

The issue: The skin is tight, lacks tone and is often dry and marked with brown spots.

The solution: A foundation with anti-aging properties. Use a smoothing product for a restorative effect or a lifting product for pronounced wrinkles. Your skin will look younger, plumper and more radiant.

Bonus tip: Apply the product with your fingers for perfect concealing.

What to avoid: Powdery textures, which will accentuate the signs of aging.

Acne-Prone Skin

The issue: The T-zone tends to be oilier, and there are more imperfections.

The solution: Anti-imperfection BB creams, which are half makeup product and half treatment. They will enhance your skin texture and eliminate minor flaws. Say goodbye to dilated pores, pimples, redness and excess sebum!

Bonus tip: Never forget to apply your sebum-regulating cream before putting on your foundation.

What to avoid: Products that are too thick or contain oily substances.

Good to know: Once you’ve chosen your foundation, take some time to select the shade that best suits your complexion. A wide range of options are available, from cold to neutral to hot shades.
