The guide to dry shampoos

After a workout, during a long trip, at the end of a busy day or on a stressful morning... Dry shampoo is ideal for so many occasions.

But how do you use it? When? Why? And which one should you choose?
Read on and learn all you need to know.

Your hair’s best buddy

Dry shampoo is generally made from powdered corn, oat or rice starch, so it acts like a sponge, absorbing the excess oils that accumulate on your scalp to help restore lightness and radiance to your roots. It's a great product for quickly refreshing your hair between washes, or for a quick boost to your locks during a busy day.

Another benefit to dry shampoos is that they texturize your hair, making it less slippery. It can even add body to a ponytail or braid and prolong the life of your bun. What’s more, it helps your hair accessories stay in place.

Uniformiser le teint

Careful! While dry shampoo is absorbent, it doesn't remove impurities. On the contrary, if you use too much of it, it can suffocate the roots of your hair and irritate your scalp. So, make sure you wash your hair with real shampoo regularly to remove the excess dry shampoo.

The secrets of application

Traditional formula

Start by shaking the container to blend the powder. You don’t want lumps that can interfere with the spray atomizer, causing uneven distribution. To refresh your hair, shoot for your roots, and move along strand by strand. Make sure you maintain the distance recommended on the product instructions. Working too closely concentrates the powder, making it difficult to disperse. Once you’ve covered your entire head, let the dry shampoo set for a few minutes to optimize its use, then brush it out gently to distribute the powder and remove any residue. For textured hair, spray the shampoo directly onto your lengths, like hairspray, then shake your hair lightly before styling.

Foam formula

Shake the bottle, but instead of applying the shampoo directly to your hair, spray the foam onto your hands and then massage the foam into your roots. Then simply let it air-dry for a minute or blow-dry your hair if you can. Cleansing foam is also available in a range of products for various needs: radiance, moisturizing, strength, suppleness... Whatever you need, cleansing foam has you covered.

Pour rafraîchir la chevelure

Nighttime formula

Did you know that there are dry shampoos made specifically to cleanse your hair overnight? Made with charcoal and baking soda, nighttime formulas work while you sleep to absorb oil and grease from your hair. Simply spray the dry shampoo on your hair and drift off to its soothing fragrance. In the morning, you’ll awake to dreamy hair.

Psst! There are new types of dry shampoo appearing on the market regularly, with ingredients that are adapted to specific needs: nettle for oily hair, oatmeal for sensitive scalps, volumizing ingredients for finer hair, brown or beige dyes for darker manes... There's even an enviro-friendly version, with no aerosols that’s fully recyclable.
